HOW THE 17 SOUTH IN STORE RADIO SYSTEM WORKS
The system becomes a virtual private radio station with a difference.The client has the options to have:
Music only, music and messages, messages only, images only (silent), video or a combination of all options that may be changed remotely at any time by notifying 17 south. (plasma screens required for image display - can be arranged by 17 south). Some clients may not want music? but require advertising announcements or image
displays - all possible with 17 south.
Typical scenarios might be:
1) A small retailer requires music with some advertising - 17 south supplies "radio realism" messages such as "goodmorning customers the time is ........" or "you are listening to..... radio" or "now back to the music" with professionally recorded voices.
2) A larger retailer might opt for plasma screens, have music and advertising with audio advertising backed up with image displays. For example a hardware store could "talk about" a new water blaster while displaying it. (either still image or video). "Customers onscreen we are now displaying.....".
3) There maybe special situations such as at an airport where no sound is required and image displays change on a regular basis. (travel scenes, advertising, public notices, the current time, bus departure times etc) all of which can be time and date specific as required by a client.
4) Others may require a multitude of all options - all controlled remotely by 17 south.
MUSIC OPTION - The music is normally selected by 17 South Ltd in agreement with the client. However the 17 South player system (© 17 South Ltd) can now also work with external music supplied by the retailer or client. For example the client may wish to continue using their own cd's, play radio or use satellite supplied music such as Sky. The unique 17 South player will still play your messages and advertising.
Under the option to use 17 South music, the music played in any one day never repeats and there are regular updates of both tracks and sequencing. The 17 South player system has the ability to download greater selections of music through not being restricted to 7 mb of data as some competitive players are.
MESSAGES/ADVERTISING - Messages are for a particular client's promotions and may be "global" or "local" within a client group. The same applies to images and video options.
EXTERNAL ADVERTISING (again audio or visual options) - Advertisements are an effective method for a client to generate additional income through advertising on "their radio". Discuss this option with us. A client with a sufficient number of stores or "people exposure" becomes attractive to advertisers of other non-competitive products or promotions.
17 South Ltd provides software and hardware to every participating client. The hardware is about the size of a DVD player and requires to be connected to:
1) Existing sound equipment if audio required. (we can provide sound systems and lease too if required!)
2) Mains power 24 hours per day.
3) An uninterrupted dial tone phone line for 56k Modem (generally the case) or we can arrange to connect to Broadband, either the clients network or individually supplied. Wireless options are also available. Discuss with us.
17 South Players automatically connect to the controlling overseas server during the night for media updates. In emergency situations downloads can be provided to individual, groups or all players at any time during the day providing internet connection available. Just call us!
